BOSTON (TheStreet) -- Catalyst Value Fund, overseen by small investment-management firm Catalyst Funds, has overcome pint-sized operations to deliver big gains.
Catalyst Value, managed by David Miller in New York, generated pre-tax returns of 57% in 2009 and 20% in 2010. In the three years through Dec. 31, the fund rose an annual average of 15%, snagging TheStreet's 2010 Best Mutual Fund award for the small-cap core category. This year, it's up 2.2%. Runner-up was Gabelli Westwood Mighty Mites.
