HONG KONG -- Most stock markets fell Monday as investors continued to worry about soaring oil prices and Japan's struggle to recover from its worst-ever earthquake.
Japan's Nikkei 225 stock average dipped 0.5% to close at 9,719.70, South Korea's Kospi edged down 0.3% to end at 2,122.39 and Hong Kong's Hang Seng index slid 0.4% to finish at 24,303.07. Benchmarks in mainland China, Taiwan, Singapore and India also fell.
Australia's S&P/ASX 200 was up 0.6% at 4,971.20. New Zealand's benchmark also gained.
