Alien Chair by Sedes Regia

Alien Chair by Sedes Regia: "

Oh boy. Another great example of modern design that is so darn cool looking it’s hard to tell exactly what you’re looking at. One hundred points are certainly awarded to Sedes Regia for originality — we can’t remember ever seeing a seat quite like this before. But, we must ask that very important question: is it comfy?

We may love modern furniture, but we definitely treasure comfort. That’s why we enlisted the help of 2Modern friend and furniture maker Michael Yates. His background and expertise made him the perfect guy to rate chairs based on firmness, quality, comfort and ergonomics. This isn’t exactly science, but we’ll be bringing you a series of posts to tackle the very important question of looks versus comfort!

Alien Chair by Sedes Regia. In Michael’s words: “You can’t relax on this thing.”

Our ratings system, which we admit is based a lot on personal preference, gave the the Alien Chair 3 stars for firmness (meaning it’s got a bit of give but not too much sink), 2 star for touch (you won’t be running your hands across this thing for pleasure), 5 stars for construction (it could probably survive a 20 story fall) and 2 star for ergonomics (you can’t be ergonomic if you can’t relax). Read more about it here.

You’ll have to stay tuned to the blog to see what other new designs he rates for comfort; which chair will be the most comfortable?! What do you think about the Alien Chair? Does it look as comfy as it does attractive? Do you think you would enjoy sitting in it? Let us know!
