Little Corners, Big Impact

Little Corners, Big Impact:

So you’ve finally gotten around to decorating your living room; you’ve upholstered the sofa, hung the wall art, installed some pretty pendant lights and finally got the placement of that area rug just right. But something still seems a bit off…there’s a corner that’s still empty and neglected. If you have a little nook, there are plenty of ways to decorate or design it so that your space truly feels finished. Take a look at some of these creative little corners for some big inspiration.

The corner is a great place for lighting, especially if you have large or dramatically shaped lamps. This three-arm lamp really brightens up this corner.

Another idea for your corner is to create a reading nook. You’ll need a corner, of course, in addition to a comfortable chair, a stack of books or magazines, and a small light fixture, to get the look. Spruce up your little corner further by adding some funky wall art!

Love this pretty, fashionable corner. Hanging dresses out like this may not be for everyone, but take a note from the composition, and copy the look with a few posters. Stack some vintage trunks in the corner for added emphasis.

This small, yet relaxed, French apartment shows that you can create impactful corners in even the tiniest of spaces. The designer used space well, creating a separate ‘room’ with a divider. Behind the divider lays the bedroom, while in the far right corner are a little sitting area with a lamp, perfect for relaxing at the end of the day.

Designed by Martha Angus, this design show house bedroom is absolutely eclectic. While Agnus designed this for a boy’s room, you could definitely do the same thing with vintage dress form; either way, this space is impossibly chic.

Create your own lounging nook like these homeowner’s did, by placing a Eero Saarnien Womb Lounge and Ottoman in the corner. It’s even better if the corner is near a window, since you won’t need any artificial light to brighten this nook.

Now, if you’ve got a bit of corner space on a desk or counter, you can even decorate that space. Create a cute vignette with tiny figurines and glass vases.

If you have a little corner and you’re looking to add a bit more impact, all you need is a little creativity, some art and a great lamp!
