3-Year-Old Dresses as Prostitute as TLC Reality Show Continues to Stir Up Controversy

3-Year-Old Dresses as Prostitute as TLC Reality Show Continues to Stir Up Controversy: A week after an episode of TLC’s “Toddlers & Tiaras” attracted a critical backlash because a 4-year-old contestant put on fake breasts to appear as Dolly Parton, as previously reported, the show has drawn another round of protests, according to The Hollywood Reporter. This time the incident involves an even younger show contestant -- 3 years old -- who apparently dressed up as a prostitute, emulating Julia Roberts’ character in the movie “Pretty Woman.”The earlier Dolly Parton incident reportedly led to TLC shutting down its Facebook wall due to a flood of negative comments. The youngster involved in the latest incident has been featured in a promo spot for the show, the story reports. The spot triggered an angry statement from media gadfly organization the Parents Television Council.Said Melissa Henson, director of communications and public education for the PTC: "We have a serious problem when The Learning Channel features a toddler, who probably hasn't even learned to read, dressed as a prostitute showing off her sexy strut. There's no question, TV executives are complicit in robbing these small kids of their childhood. For years we've seen adults’ sexuality being inappropriately and aggressively foisted on innocent young children, but children today are being sexualized at younger and younger ages. All available data suggests they will suffer for it later in life."
