Obama's Jobs Plan Looks Good on Paper:

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- The American Jobs Act was sped along to Congress Monday with President Barack Obama continuing to stress the need for a speedy approval that seems like a bit of a pipedream with the debt ceiling fiasco still fresh in mind.

The president has repeatedly stressed there's nothing "controversial" in the $447 billion stimulus package, making the leap of logic that both parties shouldn't have any problems backing the plan, and taking politics out of it, approaching the issue from strictly an economic perspective, research firm Macroeconomic Advisers is on board.

The firm says Monday its analysis finds the package would provide a 1.25% boost to gross domestic product in 2012, although it notes that it would be "pulling that growth forward," mostly from 2013.
