Ever wonder how a model goes from being an unknown face to someone like Karlie Kloss or Joan Smalls? Well, it all begins on the catwalk, but before they can even get there, they all must go through countless (and rigorous) meet-and-greets with casting directors. Enter industry veteran James Scully, the man responsible for selecting the lucky ladies who get to sashay down the runway for Jason Wu, Oscar de la Renta, Derek Lam, and Carolina Herrera. In this first installment of our new Casting Director Diaries, Scully gives us a candid peek into how it all works.
