New ComScore numbers show that an iPhone owner is far more likely to use his phone's Wi-Fi functionality than an Android owner is.
In the US, 71% of iPhone owners use both cellular and Wi-Fi connections while a mere 32% of Android owners make use of both.
It's even more drastic in the UK, with 87% of iPhone users and 57% of Android users relying on both connections.
Attempting to explain the difference in numbers between the two countries, Serge Matta, President of Operator and Mobile Solutions at ComScore, said, "In the UK the scarcity of unlimited data plans and higher incidence of smartphone pre-paid contracts with a pay-as-you-go data model likely contributes to data offloading among users wanting to economize their mobile usage."
