"Girls Around Me," a creepy app built on top of the Facebook and Foursquare APIs to show girls near the user, came under fire as being an app designed exclusively to encourage stalking.
It was recently suspended from Apple's App Store and had its Foursquare credentials revoked. Now the developers behind the app, i-Free Innovations, have fired back with a strongly-worded statement in the Wall Street Journal.
They say that it's "unethical to pick a scapegoat to talk about the privacy concerns. We see this wave of negative as a serious misunderstanding of the apps’ goals, purpose, abilities and restrictions."
