Dick Clark Underwent Surgery the Day Before He Died: Legendary television producer and entrepreneur Dick Clark underwent prostate surgery the day before his death, reports TMZ.com.As previously reported, the man who helped popularize rock 'n' roll with the TV show “American Bandstand" suffered what was described as a massive heart attack.According to Clark's death certificate, he underwent a transurethral resection of the prostate for benign prostatic hyperplasia on April 17, a procedure usually performed when an enlarged prostate makes urination difficult, the story says.The story reports: “The document also notes that Clark suffered from acute urinary retention -- a condition caused by a benign prostatic hyperplasia ... which is why he underwent surgery on the 17th.”The certificate says Clark also suffered from coronary artery disease, the piece reports. Clark, who died April 18, was 82.
