Robotic wheels rather than human soles will probably make the next artificial mark on the lunar surface. For planetary scientist Ian Crawford of Birkbeck College in London, this is a shame. While robots have done all the recent planetary exploration in the solar system, he argues that human beings are far more efficient at producing good scientific results.
