Seven held in anti-terror raids after weapons found in car:

Six men from West Midlands and one from West Yorkshire arrested after firearms found in car police stopped on the M1
Seven men have been arrested on suspicion of terror offences after the routine stop of a car by police on the M1 motorway in South Yorkshire.
Six, from the West Midlands and one from Kirklees in West Yorkshire, are in custody following a series of police raids after firearms, offensive weapons and other material was found hidden in the vehicle, which was impounded on Saturday on suspicion of having no insurance.
Police traced the driver, passenger and others suspected of being involved.
The men were being detained in the West Midlands area "on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism", said West Midlands police.
Three men, aged 23, 26, and 27 years from Sparkhill, Birmingham, were detained on Tuesday morning. Three more, a 22-year-old from Alum Rock, Birmingham, a 24-year-old from the Moseley area of the city, and a 22-year-old from Smethwick, Sandwell, West Midlands, were arrested on Wednesday evening. The 43-year-suspect from Kirklees was arrested on Thursday evening.
Items found in the vehicle were undergoing forensic analysis, and searches were carried at the addresses of those in custody. The West Midlands counter-terrorism unit was leading the investigation. The head of the unit, Detective Chief Superintendent Kenny Bell, said: "As soon as the items were discovered in the impounded vehicle, our priority was to protect the public by pursuing and arresting those we believed to be involved. Our inquiries are ongoing."
A warrant of further detention has been granted for the three men arrested on Tuesday, giving officers until next Tuesday morning to charge, release them or apply for a further warrant. Police have an initial 48 hours with the other suspects, after which officers will need to charge, release or apply for a warrant of further detention.
