MANILA, Philippines—Former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was rushed back to a government hospital in Quezon City Thursday night after complaining of pain in the neck and lower back that appeared to have been triggered by a vomiting spell after choking on a piece of meat at dinner.



Dr. Nona Legaspi, director of the Veterans Memorial Medical Center, said the Pampanga congresswoman was brought to the facility in the evening due to pain in the neck and lumbar area or lower back.



"She came to the emergency room around 9:30 p.m. and was subsequently admitted," the hospital official said.
