DAVAO CITY, Philippines—Davao City’s population now totals 1.44 million, making it the country’s largest urbanized area in terms of population and land area outside Metro Manila, according to the results of a 2010 survey released recently by the National Statistics Office.
The NSO said the spike in the city’s population from 1.36 million in 2007 – a growth rate of 2.17 percent over a three year period – was mainly due to the influx of people from other parts of the country.
