PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Philippines—Charges have been filed against the Korean owner of a high-end resort in El Nido town following the recent seizure there of illegally cut hard wood lumber.
The prosecutor’s office of Palawan on Tuesday filed an illegal logging case against Cho Hang Jin, a Korean national and owner of the posh El Nido Beach Resort on Matinloc Island.
The case was filed following the seizure last March 12 at the resort of at least 8,390 board feet of lumber from ipil, a hardwood species, by members of the provincial government’s law enforcement team Kilusang Sagip Kalikasan (KSK).
