BlackBerry Z10 becomes official, 4.2-inch touchscreen with BB 10 OS:
BlackBerry (not RIM anymore) has entered a new era where hopes of becoming one of the top smartphone brand once again is expected. Pushing their latest BB 10 OS are two phones and one of which is the full-touchscreen BlackBerry Z10, moving away from the monickers you’ve grown to love such as Torch, Bold, and Curve.
The BlackBerry Z10 boasts of a 4.2-inch touchscreen with a 1280 x 768 display resolution amounting to a rather impressive 355 ppi pixel density. The design looks like a bulkier iPhone with its rounded edges and uniform 9.1mm thickness all throughout its aluminum and hard plastic body.
It is powered by a dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 (Krait) processor with a hefty 2GB RAM. Before you pick on it’s last year’s processor, you have to understand the previous BlackBerries work just fine even with less than 1 GHz processor. Boosting the RAM was the right call instead of bumping the speed. It also has 16GB internal storage with options for expanded storage via microSD.
The Z10 comes with an 8-megapixel rear camera capable of recording full HD videos, and a 2-megapixel HD front camera. It is also equipped with LTE support, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, and uses microSIM. Battery is at 1800mAh and it comes in black and white.
The BlackBerry Z10 costs $599 for an unlocked unit in the US. It is already available in the UK, then Canada, before heading to US. No local pricing and availability announced just yet but we’ll keep you posted once we receive word.
