PQI Air Drive turns regular SD cards into Wireless cards

PQI Air Drive turns regular SD cards into Wireless cards:
There are already a number of WiFi-enabled SD cards like EyeFi but they’re still very expensive. PQI is doing another approach in making SD cards accessible wirelessly — make the portable card reader WiFi capable.
At first, I thought the idea was kind of useless — why would you access the SD card reader over WiFi when you can just plug it to the USB port of your laptop or PC?

Then, some other typical scenario presented itself — what if you took a long video in your camera and stored it directly into the SD card. If you want to play it back to a larger display but do not have a laptop on hand except for your iPhone or Android tablet.
The PQI Air Drive comes with an iOS or Android app so you can access it straight from your smartphone or tablet over WiFi.

The Air Drive has a built-in WiFi AP which can accommodate up to 5 wireless connections. The device also comes with a built-in Li-Ion battery that lasts about 5 hours on a single full charge (charges via a built-in USB plug as well).

PQI Air Drive specs:

WiFi 802.11 b/g/n

SD/SDHC Card up to 32GB

iOS 4.0 and up, Android 2.1 and up

85 x 54 x 8mm (dimensions)

55 grams (weight)
The PQI Air Drive sells for Php2,890 over at Widget City (see listing here).
